Painting idea: Carnival society

Idea and realization: Johanna Schneider
This time we want to work with stencils and try to paint the picture mainly from surfaces and with few lines.
Step 1
First, I primed the sky and the earth in the picture. I then made a stencil for the flags.
Step 2
The template can be used repeatedly.
You can also use individual flags from the template. We alternate between different Seccorell color powders for the flags.
Step 3
We connect the flags with a line.
Now we paint individual carnival figures. I indicate the outlines of the figures lightly with lines using the Seccorell paints. All areas can be depicted using the typical "wipe painting technique" with Seccorell.
Step 4
Now I make two more stencils: a large circle for the balloons and a small circle for the costume of a carnival character. We can paint different colors on top of each other and on top of each other so that the layering creates mixed colors. This is how the balloons are painted, as well as the dress.
Step 5
The balloons are now given "lights", which are worked out with the eraser. The background is now painted around the carnival figures and then the blue paint is removed again in individual places with the eraser so that some snowflakes dance through the picture.
The shadow on the floor is painted with blue, violet and black. Faces, hands and shoes, as well as the strings of the balloons, are drawn with a paint stick.
I also erased the outlines of some of the figures with the eraser to bring more light into the picture. Now our picture of the merry carnival party is finished!
